Thank Your School Psychologist During National School Psychologist Week

This week is National School Psychologist Week. It is a week dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the hard work and endless efforts of school psychologists in districts across the nation. School psychologists are there for students every day helping with their mental health, learning, and behaviors.

More than 80 school psychologists work in Jordan School District providing direct support and interventions; consulting with teachers, families, counselors, social workers, and school staff. These professionals play a vital role in the educational process and we thank them this week and every day for all they do to support students and our schools.

JATC Hosts “From High School to Hired” CTE Event

Select high school students from across Jordan District were invited to the JATC South campus for the “From High School to Hired” event. Students were given practical advice from professionals on the value of networking, tips on how to make an impression during an interview, and personalized assistance on enhancing their resumes.

Students were invited based on their individual YouScience scores that showed aptitude in the career fields represented. They then met with potential future employers to talk about the jobs available to them after graduation.

Thank you to all of the industry professionals who graciously gave their time to help students as they prepare to transition out of high school and into the workforce.

Students Celebrate Dia de los Muertos at Hidden Valley Middle School

Students at Hidden Valley Middle School recently brought the spirited traditions of Día de los Muertos to life while learning about the cultural celebrations in Ms. Alcala’s Spanish class. The students made beautiful paper marigolds, delicate papel picado, and hand-decorated picture frames for a classroom ofrenda. Many students even brought photos of family and friends who have passed on, paying tribute to their lives and reflecting the true spirit of the holiday.
Students concluded the festivities by crafting colorful, traditional sugar skulls (calaveras de azúcar). The project offered students a hands-on opportunity to explore the connection between language and culture, while honoring a cherished tradition that celebrates life, memory, and the bonds that connect us.

Jordan Virtual Learning Academy Hosts Fifth Annual Trunk-or-Treat

Rocky Peak, Kelsey Peak, and Kings Peak virtual schools teamed up for an epic trunk-or-treat party. The parking lot was full of amazing costumes, creatively decorated cars, games, and candy. Inside, students and their families could watch a movie or do an art project. There was also a grab-and-go food drive for anyone looking to donate or needing some additional help to take home.

The highlight for many was the haunted bus organized by Kings Peak students, which gave anyone brave enough to enter a good scare. Congrats to our awesome virtual schools on their fifth successful trunk-or-treat and their first at the new Jordan Learning Center campus!
