Celebrating Mountain Creek Middle School
McKenzie Hansen, student body officer, talked about Mountain Creek Middle School and the pride students and staff take in their school. She described Mountain Creek as a safe and innovative school where everyone feels like family. Since the school opened, McKenzie said many awesome traditions have been established including “news of the day” and students receiving Mountain Creek t-shirts to wear with pride. She said there is a fun culture at the school and students have great classroom experiences, along with the opportunity to participate in an impressive performing arts program. McKenzie also talked about the great Unified Sports Program that exists at Mountain Creek and all of the opportunities to get involved in clubs like math, chess, guitar, writing and many more. She said student government helps teens at Mountain Creek develop strong leadership skills. To conclude the celebration of Mountain Creek Middle School, 9th grade student Chanelle Mella performed a beautiful rendition of Anastasia’s “Journey to the Past.”
Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Anthony Godfrey, Superintendent of Schools, said it is very exciting to celebrate student successes like the evening’s recognition of Bingham High School cheer as 6A State champions and National champions, along with Mountain Ridge High School girls wrestling winning the 6A State Championship. The Superintendent also thanked everyone involved for another great Districtwide Health and Wellness Day. He said support from the community is really inspiring and the Health and Wellness Day team does a tremendous job organizing the day and pulling all of the resources together. Dr. Godfrey said teachers express their gratitude for the day and it touches every employee.
The Superintendent said CTE is a point of pride in Jordan School District. He introduced Career and Technical Education Director, Jason Skidmore who talked about the wide range of things happening for students during the month of February which is National CTE Month. He said there have been many competitions, guest speakers, service projects, and so many incredible things happening every day. Mr. Skidmore thanked his staff, CTE coordinators, and teachers for their tireless work giving all students so many opportunities in CTE, which he described as endless these days. He said there are 260 CTE courses and 121 of them offer college credit. Mr. Skidmore thanked Board members for their continued support of traditional trades and the expansion of new opportunities in Jordan School District, which has had a very long and strong history of supporting Career and Technical Education. He concluded by saying how proud he is of all the CTE teachers in Jordan School District, for all they do for students, and for the results they see in student success working alongside community partners.

The Board approved the proposed revisions to Administrative Policy DP338 Reimbursement of Licensed Employees Elected to Public Office and to eliminate Administrative Policy DP338B Reimbursement of Educational Support Professionals Elected to Public Office.
- Patron Comments
- Melanie Canick, an employee, requested a review of the occupational and physical therapy salary schedule in Jordan School District. Ms. Canick described the amount of work done by OT and PT professionals in a variety of settings and the love and dedication they have for students.
- Kelly Wood, an employee, asked the Board to consider increased compensation for occupational and physical therapists working in Jordan School District.
- Janet Sanders, JEA President, thanked the Board for its support of JEA over the years and said it is a relationship she hopes will continue, despite the passage of HB 257 in the Utah Legislature. Ms. Sanders said by working together, many issues have been addressed to benefit educators.
- Wendy Berett, an employee, said there is a constant struggle to keep Speech Language Pathologists in the District and asked the Board to consider some options to retain the SLP’s.
- Colette Memmot, a teacher and Vice President of JEA, thanked the Board for approving the District cellphone policy, saying it has been life-changing in her classroom. She thanked the Board for all of the support given to teachers throughout District.
- Amy Ludlow, an employee, advocated for higher pay for Speech Language Pathologists who love their jobs.
- Board Comments
- Niki George said she appreciated the opportunities to spend time on the hill meeting State lawmakers with Board members and students. Ms. George reported on the Joint Legislative Committee (JLC) inviting the Board to visit a website, “Utah Loves Public Schools,” which she said is an effort on the part of citizens and businesses to help everyone recognize the blessing public education is in our communities.
- Darrell Robinson recognized the Mountain Ridge High School Girls wrestling team for their recent 6A State championship.
- Erin Barrow recognized the Bingham High School cheer team for winning first place in State competition and taking the national title at the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC) at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. She congratulated everyone involved in the planning of the District’s Health and Wellness Day.
Closed, Study Session
In closed session, Board members discussed personnel, property, potential litigation, and negotiations. In open session, the Board reviewed legislative proposals and action regarding education, summer 2025 projects, and proposed revisions to Administrative Policy DP338 Reimbursement of Licensed Employees Elected to Public Office. The Board also had a follow up discussion on Board priorities.
