Valley High Connects Students with Their Futures at College and Career Fair

Valley High Job Fair Local businesses, colleges, and job recruiters filled the halls of Valley High as a part of their College and Career Fair. Dozens of booths hosted groups hoping to connect the school’s students with prospective employers and post-secondary educational opportunities.

This year’s fair featured diverse community and educational partners, including local businesses, colleges, technical schools, cosmetology and barbering schools, as well as representatives from federal, state, and local government agencies. This variety provided students with a wealth of opportunities to explore different career options. CTE teacher Lindsay Walker worked painstakingly to build partnerships that brought many groups to the event.

Students were invited to on-the-spot interviews, allowing them to demonstrate their skills and enthusiasm directly to potential employers. After the interviews, many students left the fair with a second job interview lined up.

This year’s College and Career Fair was an empowering experience for students as they start their futures outside of high school. Thank you to all the Valley High staff, local companies, and groups who helped create this fantastic event.

Aspen Elementary School Kicks Off the Start of May with a Nostalgic Dance Performance

Students and staff at Aspen Elementary celebrate the start of the last full month of the school year with impromptu after-school performances. The school’s amazing recess aide, Mary Kuemmerle, brought some serious nostalgia by teaching students popular dance moves from the turn of the millennium with a performance of an NSYNC hit song to remind everyone, “It’s gonna be May!”

A huge thank you to Ms. Kuemmerle and Aspen Elementary staff for making this a fun and unforgettable school year!

Bus Drivers “Saddle Up” at Jordan District School Bus Road-E-O Event

School Bus drivers across Jordan School District rounded up to show off their skills and compete at the Jordan District School Bus Road-E-O. The drivers took a written test and competed in bus driving skills events that included an obstacle course, curb parking, tight turning, and student loading. The rodeo is a fun way to sharpen skills and practice keeping students safe when on the road.

The top three bus wranglers each move on to represent Jordan District at the annual Utah State Safety Skills Competition and School Bus Road-E-O on Saturday, May 10. Congratulations to all who competed and best of luck at State to our winners!
