Jordan School District Teachers Among Those Recognized for Resilience by First Lady Abby Cox

It was a night to shine and receive recognition for twenty teachers throughout the state of Utah, and shine they did. First Lady Abby Cox welcomed everyone to the annual Show Up for Teachers, “Honors in Education Gala” this week. It’s an event that salutes the capacity and commitment of some of Utah’s top teachers.

Among those recognized were two incredible teachers from Jordan School District. Congratulations to Brittany Jaque from Copper Canyon Elementary and Dannel Black from Mountain Ridge High School, both honored for being great examples of resilience and hope.

The First Lady said teachers are the very definition of hope during difficult days, and despite difficulties, they always press forward.

Congratulations to all teachers honored at the gala. We admire all you do for students and their path to success.

Copper Hills High School Marching Band Captivates Audiences Throughout the Summer

Copper Hills High School‘s marching band showcased their patriotic spirit over Independence Day by captivating audiences at the West Jordan Stampede Parade and the Sandy City Parade. Even some rain did not slow down their performances, which featured vibrant patriotic medleys.

If you missed their 4th of July performances you can still catch one of the Bands four other performances this summer, July 21 at 11 a.m. at the Days of ’47 Parade Preview at the Mountain America Expo Center, July 26 at the Bountiful Handcart Days Parade, July 24 at the Days of ’47 Parade, and July 22 at the AJR concert at  Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater.

Jordan School District Students Once Again Rise to the Top in National Competition

Students who competed in STEMThey are very talented students with amazing skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related fields. Those incredible skills paid off in a big way recently at a national competition in Nashville, Tennessee. A total of 16 Jordan School District students took part in the Technology Student Association’s (TSA) national competition. They pulled out all the stops and gave it their all competing in events such as biotechnology, solar sprint, drone design, flight endurance, dragster racing, architectural design, tech problems, board game design, and tech bowl.

All of the students shined in their events and those competing in board game design, solar sprint, and drone design, all placed in the top ten in the nation in the TSA events! The TSA is a national organization which helps students interested in STEM compete at the state and national level, providing high school students opportunities to gain leadership skills and career opportunities in STEM fields.

Congratulations to all of the students and their instructors on their many achievements.

Bluffdale Dual Language Immersion Teachers Recognized in U.S. Congress

Bluffdale Elementary School teachers Jessica Bell’Aver and Edson Rabelo received well-deserved recognition from United States CongressmanEdson Rabelo and Jessica Bell'Aver are two amazing Dual Language Immersion teachers at Bluffdale Elementary School Burgess Owens, who honored them on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, D.C. Bell’Aver, a first-grade teacher, and Rabelo, a sixth-grade teacher, were honored for their outstanding work in Bluffdale Elementary’s Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, where students spend half of their school day learning in the Portuguese language.

“Bluffdale students are thriving because dedicated teachers believe in their potential and push them to reach it,” Owens said in his recognition.

Bluffdale Elementary is one of 10 DLI elementary schools in Jordan District. The program begins in first grade and continues up to 12th grade, with University classes available in High School. JSD Students Compete in National Health Care Competition

HOSA Students at a national competition Nine talented students from Jordan School District had the incredible opportunity to participate in the HOSA International Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee. This event brought together aspiring healthcare professionals from around the world to compete, learn, and advance in their career pathways.

The students proudly represented Jordan School District in a variety of competitive events, including Patient Care Technician, Dental Science, Medical Terminology, Nurse Assisting, Phlebotomy, Health Care Display, and Health Career Photography. Several students performed so well that they advanced to the second round of competition, demonstrating the skills and knowledge they’ve gained through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

We are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication and hard work. Congratulations to all of our JSD HOSA participants for representing their schools and district with excellence!
