It is an initiative spearheaded by Utah First Lady Abby Cox to support and celebrate Utah educators and that’s exactly what they did at the Mountain American Expo Center in Sandy on Thursday.
About 2,000 teachers and school counselors representing school districts from around the state, including Jordan, enjoyed a day focusing on their wellness and professional development. There were breakout session on stress management, mental health, and one led by Jordan School District Wellness Administrator McKinley Withers called “Skills for Personal and Professional Fulfillment.” Attendees were also treated to a wide array of swag provided by local businesses.
One big highlight of the day was a concert by the popular “Superintendents of Rock.” Jordan’s own Superintendent Anthony Godfrey is a member of the band which travels throughout Utah, often performing at events supporting education.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in organizing “Show Up for Teachers.” We hope our educators feel the love and support from everyone involved.

They are very talented students with amazing skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) related fields. Those incredible skills paid off in a big way recently at a national competition in Nashville, Tennessee. A total of 16 Jordan School District students took part in the Technology Student Association’s (TSA) national competition. They pulled out all the stops and gave it their all competing in events such as biotechnology, solar sprint, drone design, flight endurance, dragster racing, architectural design, tech problems, board game design, and tech bowl.
