Students Kick Off Silver Rush at Riverton High School

It is something students, teachers, staff, and members of the community look forward to every single school year. Silver Rush kicked off in traditional style at Riverton High School with lots of excitement, endless energy, and enthusiasm galore. This year’s charitable fundraising drive will include a Silver Rush Boutique, a Skate Night, Silver Swing, and Silver Ball Winter Formal, along with many other events.

Silver Rush will benefit “The Refuge Utah,” providing domestic violence victim support. We wish Riverton High School the very best in making this another record year making a difference in the local community!

The Season of Giving Back Begins in Jordan School District

Students across Jordan School District are all energized and ready to put their hearts and souls into charitable giving drives this holiday season.

At Bingham High School the “True Blue” opening assembly kicked off with music, a visit from Kauri Sue Hamilton students, and a passionate plea to make their season of giving back a big success. The charity drive will feature a Christmas market and an Improv Pay to Play event, to name just a few.

This year “True Blue” will raise money for the Kauri Sue Hamilton School and Make-A-Wish Utah Foundation. Kauri Sue will receive money for equipment to support students with special needs and money donated to Make-A-Wish will help fulfill life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses in Utah.

Thanks to Bingham High School students and the community for coming together to support others this holiday season and beyond.

Fort Herriman Middle School Students Spread Thanksgiving Cheer to Students and Families Along the Wasatch Front

Student Body Officers (SBO’s) from Fort Herriman Middle School volunteered with the non-profit organization For the Kids, which they championed during last year’s Diamondback Giveback Season. The SBO’s stopped at an Elementary School in West Valley, where they had the opportunity to engage with students to celebrate their achievements in the DARE program. Afterward, they prepared Thanksgiving meals, including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, and gravy, for 100 families that might have gone without in the West Valley community.

Teachers, staff, and the administration at Fort Herriman Middle School say they are working to create a culture of generosity and compassion among its students. They say initiatives like this showcase the remarkable impact that dedicated young leaders can have in their community.

Keep it up, Diamondbacks! Your efforts truly make a difference!

Golden Fields Elementary Students Parade and Perform to Celebrate Thanksgiving

Students at Golden Fields Elementary School were giving thanks and having a great time as they dressed up to celebrate the holiday. Some of them took the stage in their best costumes and sang turkey tunes to the delight of the school audience. Others participated in a Turkey Trot up and down the halls of Golden Fields. And what is Thanksgiving without a Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Third graders participated in the parade, proudly marching throughout the school with festive balloons and much more.

Everyone also enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast leading up to the holiday. The feast was delivered to students, who welcomed it with big smiles, in the special education support classroom at Golden Fields.

Happy Thanksgiving from students and staff at Golden Fields Elementary School!

Mountain Ridge and Riverton High Chinese Students Dominate 2024 Business Language Competition

They are using their language skills to reach new heights and their success in a recent state competition is just one example. Recently, Brigham Young University hosted the 2024 High School Business Language Competition, where students from across Utah were able to showcase their language and business skills. The event featured five languages, Chinese, Spanish, French, Arabic, and German.  A total of 22 Chinese teams competed in a tight race.

With the guidance of their coach Mrs. Wei Wei, Mountain Ridge High School’s Miles Garber, Kylie White, and Brynlee Dalton took first place, while Riverton High School’s Gracie Nelson, Clancy Wan, and Olivia Stott earned third. Both teams stood out for their creative and culturally informed strategies.

This year’s challenge focused on supporting the Busankam Wola Foundation, which empowers marginalized women and children in Ghana. The Foundation teaches women to weave unique baskets for global sale, helping them generate income and build skills. Proceeds support the creation of sewing schools to train future generations.

Students were tasked with creating marketing strategies to expand the Foundation’s reach, tackling challenges such as brand recognition and adapting products for diverse markets. Both teams impressed judges with their thoughtful solutions, showcasing the power of language and cultural understanding in addressing real-world challenges.

Congratulations to Mountain Ridge and Riverton High School’s Chinese program for their remarkable achievements! These students exemplify the importance of combining language skills with global business insight.
