Jordan School District Launches First “Unified Golf” Program in Utah

ItTwo Jordan School District students participate in a Unified Golf event is a program bringing students of all abilities together creating a fast and meaningful path to fun, friendship and understanding. First Lady Abby Cox was on hand as Jordan School District launched the first ever “Unified Golf” program in the State of Utah.

“Unified Golf” is an opportunity for middle school students with and without disabilities to come together as friends and play together on a team in competitive golf. The Glenmoor Golf Course team has been working hard to make “Unified Golf” a reality. Students received a quick lesson in using a golf club, swinging, putting and just enjoying the game and each other.

This program, which is part of Unified Sports, is a statewide effort to foster greater empathy and understanding of students with disabilities and to encourage more inclusion and opportunities for all students.

Peer leaders from Riverton High School organized a springtime prom with lights, decorations, a DJ, dancing, pictures and refreshments for the special needs students to enjoy. The theme of the night was “Out of this World,” and to make the evening even more memorable, all Kauri Sue graduates were invited to attend. The graduates also had the chance to get all dressed up and dance to their hearts content.

Thanks to everyone involved for making this amazing night so wonderful for students.
