Hundreds of Students in Need Receive Early Christmas Gift of Shopping Spree Thanks to and Jordan Education Foundation and Donations from Caring Community

Hundreds of teens who may have gone with very little or no gifts this holiday season received an early Christmas thanks to donations and support from a caring community and the Jordan Education Foundation. The Foundation raised nearly $90,000 from generous donors and local businesses to provide a holiday shopping spree for more than 600 students in need throughout Jordan School District in their annual “Christmas for Kids” event this year.

On Saturday, the students partnered with amazing volunteer chaperones who took them shopping at Walmart in South Jordan for everything from clothes, boots, and bedding, to comforters, warm coats, and food for their families. Every student was allowed to purchase $150.00 worth of gifts. Santa Claus was there to spread some holiday cheer along with local firefighters, police, and city leaders.

In addition, this year local Stir’s cereal bar donated 600 boxes of cereal to the event. That meant the students also received a big box of cereal.

Thank you to everyone for making the holidays much brighter for students and their families.

Community Donors Help Provide Heartwarming Christmas for South Valley School Students

It was an early Christmas thanks to donations and support from a caring community and the Jordan Education Foundation. This week, 35 South Valley School students were treated to a holiday shopping spree at Walmart in South Jordan. Each student was allowed to purchase $150.00 worth of gifts for themselves and family members. Teachers accompanied the students as they shopped, together making memories which will last for years to come.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, supporting students and their families who need just a little extra help over the holiday season.

This Saturday, the Jordan Education Foundation and its donors will treat 600 middle and high school students from schools throughout Jordan School District, to a holiday shopping spree at Walmart. It is the 10th year of “Christmas for Kids,” and we cannot thank donors enough for their generosity and kindness, helping students and their families find joy, happiness, and some special gifts under the tree this holiday season.

Jordan School District Students Kick Off Holiday Season by Giving Back

Every year during the holiday season, students throughout Jordan School District give back to their communities by raising money for charitable causes and families in need. They not only give money, but spend countless hours finding unique ways to fundraise in hopes of making the lives of others a little better.

Thank you to all the students and staff who are dedicated to this charitable work.

Last year our high schools raised a combined $646,242.79 for their charities, simply incredible!

South Valley School Students Experience Winter Wonderland at “Festival of Trees”

The true spirit, magic, and joy of the holiday season came to life for some students and staff at the South Valley School. They took a field trip to the annual “Festival of Trees” where they experienced a winter wonderland of uniquely decorated Christmas trees, wreaths, gingerbread houses, and much more. It was a fun and festive field trip with smiles shining brightly as students and staff stood in awe of the beautifully decorated trees, each one with a story to tell.

All funds raised at the “Festival of Trees” will support children at Primary Children’s Hospital. The event runs through Saturday, December 2.

Board of Education Celebrates Herriman High School Latinos in Action

Picture of Latinos in ActionMembers of the Herriman High School Latinos in Action led the Pledge of Allegiance at last night’s Board of Education meeting and celebrated their culture with a beautiful poem written by Darianna Faria, a Herriman High student. The poem expressed support for all students, encouraging those who have immigrated to the United States to never forget where they came from and to strive for a better world where all seek to understand one another. The poem went on to say all students who have immigrated from another country should be allowed to achieve their hopes and dreams.

Board members thanked the students for doing a great job representing Herriman High School and Latinos in Action.
