Walmart Joins Effort to Provide “BED’R HOMES FOR KIDS”

Picture of group with pillows and beddingIt is an effort to make sure Jordan School District students and families sleep a little easier at night. The Jordan Education Foundation launched a new project called “BED’R HOMES FOR KIDS.” The goal is to provide 200 new twin beds for students and families in need.

Now Walmart is stepping in to help. This week representatives from more than a dozen stores showed up to donate bedding, warm blankets and pillows to go along with the beds.

Getting beds to students who may have never had one, will give them a chance at a good night’s sleep and help them to better concentrate in class at school.

Thank you to Walmart and everyone involved in this project, which will improve the lives of students and local families in our communities.

Thank You to All JSD Education Support Professionals!

Please take a minute to join Superintendent Godfrey and Jordan School District in thanking all of the Education Support Professionals working beside you today. This is Education Support Professionals Day honoring a long list of professionals who keep schools running smoothly. They include secretaries, classroom aides, cafeteria workers, maintenance workers, bus drivers, custodians and others who support educators, school leadership, and students in our schools. These professionals do their part in making public schools a place where students can be safe, learn, grow, and achieve.

Education Support Professionals perform a wide variety of jobs which promote quality education, foster positive learning environments, offer nutritious meals, provide reliable transportation and maintain safe and clean schools for everyone.

They are employees like Mountain Ridge High School head custodian Kevan Sprague who was selected as the Utah School Employee Association’s Outstanding Employee of the Year.

We appreciate our amazing Education Support Professionals today and every single day!

Thank You to All Veterans!

Jordan School District students, teachers and staff extend our sincere thanks to all of our veterans on this Veterans Day. We are proud of your service and sacrifice making the many freedoms we enjoy every single day possible. We honor you today and every day.

From the playing of bagpipes, sunrise salutes and choir performances, students in many of our schools took time to honor those who serve and have served, both past and present.

Join us in showing our thanks and appreciation. We are forever grateful.

Terra Linda Elementary Cafeteria Team Serves Up Kindness with Daily Cuisine

They serve up smiles with an extra helping of kindness every single day at Terra Linda Elementary School. That’s why Assistant Principal Jarom Airhart says the Terra Linda cafeteria team is one of the best around. The team, led by Margie McDaniel, has a combined 77 years on the job cooking for kids at the school.

Mr. Airhart says, “They not only create world class cuisine but they are always surprising the Terra Linda staff with cookies, fruit trays and other goodies. They know the kids by name and frequently come out of the kitchen to say hello to students and make sure they are enjoying themselves. We see many of our lunch staff attending community events where they volunteer their time. We are lucky to have such a great group of gals.”

The cafeteria team is always going above and beyond. Mr. Airhart says teachers meet in the “celebration room” for PLC and every week Ms. Margie prepares a delicious plate of fresh fruit and cookies for everyone to enjoy.

Thank you, Margie and the Terra Linda cafeteria team. Keep up the great work nourishing students and staff and serving up smiles and kindness along the way.
