Community Helps to Make Homecoming Dance a Night to Remember for Students with Special Needs

It was a night to remember for students with special needs at the South Valley School in West Jordan. School leaders joined with members of the community to put on a Homecoming Dance for students and alumni of the school. It is something current and former students look forward to all year long. This year, Taylor Andrews Academy in West Jordan treated students to free hair design and make-up prior to the dance.

Students enjoyed music with one of their teachers acting as DJ for the evening. There was dancing, refreshments and pictures to capture memorable moments for those attending.

The theme of the Homecoming Dance was “The Sky’s the Limit,” because at South Valley School students with special needs are reminded every day that the sky is indeed the limit in their education and beyond.

Community Joins Jordan Education Foundation in Filling Principal’s Pantries for Students

Picture of donated foodIt is a joint effort in kindness and caring that supports students and families in need throughout Jordan School District. Walmart and local church groups stepped up in a big way working with the Jordan Education Foundation to make sure all Principal’s Pantries have the food, clothing, school supplies, snack packs and weekend packs they need to make sure students and families don’t go without as we head into the winter months.

This week schools throughout the District were invited to pick up whatever they need to fill their Principal’s Pantries.

Thank you to everyone involved in supporting the needs of students and their families in Jordan School District. You are making a big difference in the lives of so many.

Thank You Tide Dry Cleaners for Showing How Much You Care

Picture of team inside Tide Dry CleanersWhen the Principal’s Pantry at West Jordan High School needed someone to dry clean dozens of donated coats and prom dresses so that students could use the gently used clothing, a community partner pitched in to help. Working with the Jordan Education Foundation and Robyn Luke, Tide Dry Cleaners in South Jordan volunteered to take the coats and dresses and dry clean them so the clothing can be offered to any student in need this school year.

We appreciate community partners like Tide Cleaners for caring about education and the students we serve. Thank you. The clean coats and dresses will be put to good use!
