Herriman High Teachers and Students Impress Lawmakers During AP Day on the Hill

It was an opportunity to interact directly with lawmakers during the 2026 legislative session and some Herriman High School teachers and students did it with a passion for one program in particular. They headed to the Capitol for the inaugural AP Day on the Hill. The landmark event brought together Advanced Placement (AP) scholars and educators from across Utah to interface directly with the state’s decision-makers.

Herriman High students and teachers helped celebrate success of the AP program by providing lawmakers with firsthand accounts of its academic impact. Teachers highlighted how the rigorous AP curriculum elevates classroom standards and prepares students for the transition to higher education and professional careers. Students shared personal stories of how AP courses have revolutionized their study habits, critical thinking skills, and overall approach to learning.

We are proud of the JSD students and staff for representing Herriman High with such professionalism and passion on the State stage.

Hayden Peak Students Explore Future Job Opportunities During Immersive Career Week

Students at Hayden Peak Elementary took a deep dive into an expansive “Career Week” organized by their school counselor, Natasha Robison. The initiative focused on connecting classroom learning to professional success.

The week featured daily themes, including a visit from career and technical education (CTE) students, lunch with local first responders, and an assembly led by a UVU engineering professor. One of the highlights was “Career Day,” where professionals from 14 fields, ranging from construction to medicine, shared the specific educational milestones and skills required to enter their industries.

To inspire the students, an “Educational Journey” bulletin board displayed the college paths of every teacher in the building. By the end of the week, students didn’t just have new dream jobs, they had a roadmap to achieve them.
