Teachers Team Up With Utah Mammoth for Floor Hockey Education

During a recent professional development day, 45 elementary and middle school PE teachers from Jordan School District received specialized floor hockey training from the Utah Mammoth Youth Program. The training session equipped educators with professional drills and coaching techniques to bring a new level of energy and skill to their schools.

The partnership continues as the Utah Mammoth team prepares to work with schools to co-teach students alongside these instructors. These visits allow students to learn the fundamentals of the game directly from the pros.

This collaboration brings high-quality hockey education to schools throughout JSD.

West Hills Middle Concert Choir Shines at Jordan School District Advanced Choir Festival

Join us in sending a round of applause to students in the West Hills Middle School Concert Choir. They performed in the District Advanced Choir Festival this week and their choir director, Michael Draut, says they earned perfect scores from both judges.

After their performance, the talented students visited Sunridge Assisted Living, reconnecting with friends and sharing music that truly mattered. Watching the delighted residents sing along, including 90-year-old Bonnie, made it unforgettable.

Mr. Draut gave a huge shoutout to the choir’s amazing soloists: Sophie Birdsall, Hailey Overdiek, Hannah Pehrson, Andrea Rowberry, Benson Perkins, Quinton Hollingshead, Finley Adamson, and Haley Brady.

Way to go West Hills Concert Choir. Keep on making magical music bringing smiles and happiness to those around you!

Senior Citizens Are “Book Buddies” with Elementary School Students

Superintendent with students and senior citizensSupercast Episode 341
It is a heartwarming partnership between senior citizens and elementary school students, a partnership where seniors from a local assisted living center are showing up and reading with kids in the library.

On this episode of the Supercast, we take you to Oquirrh Elementary School. That’s where we see first-hand how being book buddies is building connections and companionship between the students and seniors, and bridging a generation gap. But best of all, it is inspiring a love for literacy in young children who look forward to the monthly visits from their senior friends.
