JSD Students Compete in National Health Care Competition

HOSA Students at a national competition Nine talented students from Jordan School District had the incredible opportunity to participate in the HOSA International Leadership Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee. This event brought together aspiring healthcare professionals from around the world to compete, learn, and advance in their career pathways.

The students proudly represented Jordan School District in a variety of competitive events, including Patient Care Technician, Dental Science, Medical Terminology, Nurse Assisting, Phlebotomy, Health Care Display, and Health Career Photography. Several students performed so well that they advanced to the second round of competition, demonstrating the skills and knowledge they’ve gained through their Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

We are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication and hard work. Congratulations to all of our JSD HOSA participants for representing their schools and district with excellence!

They are out in the heat and hard at work this summer maintaining our school grounds over the summer months with lawn care, planting, trimming, and outdoor repairs. Thank you to our dedicated grounds crews for all they do to keep our properties up, preparing them for the safe return of students, teachers, staff, and athletes on the playing field in the new school year.

We appreciate groundskeepers throughout the District, maintaining outdoor spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe, and visually appealing. Keep up the great work!

Reminder: No Free Summer Meal Service on Friday, July 4

Student eating school lunch There will be no USDA Summer Food Service, breakfast or lunch, on Friday, July 4, due to the Independence Day holiday. The free meal service will resume on Monday, July 7, running through August 1 for all students 18-years-old and younger.

The free meals will be available at five locations:

  • Majestic Elementary School, 7430 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan
  • Heartland Elementary School, 1451 West 7000 South, West Jordan
  • Westvale Elementary School, 2300 West Gardner Lane, West Jordan
  • Columbia Elementary School, 3503 West 7800 South, West Jordan
  • Oquirrh Elementary School, 7165 Paddington Road, West Jordan

Students Cultivate Leadership and Agricultural Skills During Summer Ag Tour

Jordan School District’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) recently hosted an engaging summer ag event, designed to equip student leaders with essential CTE skills and knowledge. During the District Officer Training, FFA officers from across JSD gathered to enhance their leadership abilities, prepare for their upcoming roles, and plan activities for the upcoming school year. The program also included hands-on experiences at the USU Basitan Center, where students are actively involved in raising and training livestock for the Salt Lake County Jr Livestock Show scheduled for August.

Students also visited Paradise Valley Berry Farms, where they learned about raspberry cultivation, processing, and marketing from the farm’s owner. During the visit, they also heard from the farm’s owner, who shared how his experience in FFA positively influenced his career. The tour concluded with a stop at High Point Clydesdales, known for showing, training, and breeding performance horses.

Great job to JSD staff and students for taking this summer to create a wonderful experience for students to share with their schools for the coming school year.
