Students Honor the Legacy of Ruby Bridges with a Community Walk to School

On November 14th, Falcon Ridge Elementary and Monte Vista Elementary students, staff, and parents walked to school in honor of “Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.” The event commemorates the courageous step of six-year-old Ruby Bridges, the first African-American student to attend a formerly segregated school in Louisiana. Each year, students walk to school on November 14th to raise awareness about racism and bullying in all forms.

Thank you to all students, staff, and community members who participated in this year’s “Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day.”

Magical Music from Middle School Students Performing in Districtwide Honor Choir Concert

It was a magical night of amazing music performed by about 165 middle school students from across Jordan School District. The annual Honor Choir concert was filled with beautiful sounds from students who worked so hard to perfect the numbers. Their hard work paid off and the concert was a huge success with the audience giving the choir a standing ovation.

The Honor Choir was directed by Dr. Emily Mercado, an Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education and the Music Education Area Head at the University of Utah.  Jessica Jepson was the choir’s accompanist.

Congratulations to everyone involved in giving students this incredible opportunity to perform and share their amazing vocal talents.
