7th grade ag dayIt is an opportunity for students to spend two days learning about agriculture and its impacts on their lives. This year, more than 4,500 7th grade students from throughout Jordan School District attended the two-day event at the Bastian Agriculture Center in South Jordan.

7th Grade Agricultural Days brings specialists from dozens of different ag-related organizations together with businesses to provide a hands-on educational experience. Students learned about different professions in the ag industry as well as how food makes its way from farms to the dinner table. There were plenty of farm animals to visit and students really got to experience the true diversity of agriculture.

Great job to everyone involved in organizing such an engaging, hands-on event!

Thank You JSD Custodians, You are the Very Best!

Take a minute to say thank you to custodians in schools and buildings throughout the District today and throughout the week. Each year, October 2 is recognized as National Custodian Appreciation Day. It is a day set aside to show appreciation for the men, women, and student sweepers who keep our schools and workplaces clean, shining, well maintained, and running smoothly.

These valuable employees contribute to the important first impressions in our schools and buildings as well as lending a helping hand whenever and wherever they are needed. They are an important part of education and the Jordan School District family.

Who is your favorite custodian? Tell them how much they are appreciated.

Thank you, custodians!

Utah Lawmakers Enjoy Interacting with Students and Teachers During “Lawmaker Day in the Classroom”

It was an opportunity for lawmakers to experience the love educators have for teaching, the level of student engagement, and the learning that goes on in classrooms throughout the state of Utah. Lawmaker Day in the Classroom was made possible by the Utah School Boards Association (USBA) giving members of the legislature a better understanding of what is working well for students and educators as well as the challenges they may face.

Jordan School District was honored to welcome State Representative Cheryl Acton to Antelope Canyon Elementary School and State Representative Candice Pierucci to Mountain Ridge High School. The lawmakers spent time in classrooms, meeting students and teachers, visiting with administrators, and generally experiencing quality time in our public schools.

The USBA said this is one way of building stronger relationships between educators and lawmakers.  Thank you to all lawmakers taking time to participate in “Lawmaker Day in the Classroom.”
