Oak Leaf Elementary School Students Decide to Help Nearby Students with Big Surprise This Holiday Season

They are caught up in the spirit of giving and some Oak Leaf Elementary School students are pretty proud of their work. When they heard students at another elementary school would go without the holiday box of cereal they usually get to take home for breakfast over winter break, the Oak Leaf students stepped in to help.

The Oak Leaf students, led by the school PTA, set out on a mission to collect 500 boxes of cereal to give to their fellow students as a holiday gift. They not only met, but exceeded their goal collecting more than 500 boxes of cereal! It is a gift that will warm the hearts of fellow students and ensure they have breakfast over the holiday break.

Thanks to the Oak Leaf students, staff, and PTA for thinking of others in this season of giving.

Hundreds of Students in Need Receive Early Christmas Gift of Shopping Spree Thanks to and Jordan Education Foundation and Donations from Caring Community

Hundreds of teens who may have gone with very little or no gifts this holiday season received an early Christmas thanks to donations and support from a caring community and the Jordan Education Foundation. The Foundation raised nearly $90,000 from generous donors and local businesses to provide a holiday shopping spree for more than 600 students in need throughout Jordan School District in their annual “Christmas for Kids” event this year.

On Saturday, the students partnered with amazing volunteer chaperones who took them shopping at Walmart in South Jordan for everything from clothes, boots, and bedding, to comforters, warm coats, and food for their families. Every student was allowed to purchase $150.00 worth of gifts. Santa Claus was there to spread some holiday cheer along with local firefighters, police, and city leaders.

In addition, this year local Stir’s cereal bar donated 600 boxes of cereal to the event. That meant the students also received a big box of cereal.

Thank you to everyone for making the holidays much brighter for students and their families.

Community Comes Together Taking Care of Kids & Spreading Joy This Holiday Season

They are giving from the heart in a big way and students throughout Jordan School District will feel the love and support this holiday season. Jordan School District and the Jordan Education Foundation cannot thank members of the community enough for coming together to make sure families and children in need have food and gifts for Christmas this year.

Here are just a few examples of community generosity:

  • An entire South Jordan neighborhood gathered for a “Charity of Light” event, with residents spending the night collecting clothing and food to fill Principal’s Pantries in Jordan School District schools.
  • “The Local Bee” donated 900 beanie bags to be given out to students participating in this year’s Christmas for Kids event at Walmart. Each bag contained a brand-new beanie for students to wear and other goodies.
  • Local Stir’s cereal wanted to support students this holiday season as well. Stir’s donated 600 boxes of breakfast cereal to the Jordan Education Foundation so that every student involved in Christmas for Kids can receive their very own box to enjoy over the winter break.

Oak Leaf Elementary PTA and Student Cereal Drive Results in Fun Game of Dominos

They are collecting hundreds of boxes of cereal hoping to benefit students in need, at another Jordan School District elementary school. But on this day, before donating the cereal, students and staff lined hallways with the boxes of cereal and then set them tumbling in a fun game of dominos. Students watched as the boxes fell, one after another, in a domino effect that had everyone excited and cheering the cereal boxes on.

The cereal will be delivered next week, so students in another school can enjoy a box of their favorite breakfast cereal over the holiday break.
