Virtual Learning Day on Tuesday, April 4

Winter Weather Warning IconDue to adverse travel conditions and unplowed streets in many areas of the District, along with predictions by the National Weather Service of additional significant snow accumulations throughout the day, Tuesday, April 4, will be a virtual learning day for all students in Jordan School District. 

All schools and offices will be closed on Tuesday, April 4. 

There will be no in-person learning in our schools on Tuesday. No meals, no preschool, and no daycare will be provided. Teachers will be available to meet with students virtually between 10 a.m. and noon. Schools will communicate how to best connect with teachers and will share any additional schedule information.

District crews and contracted services will continue to clear snow throughout the day. A decision will be made regarding after-school and extracurricular activities by 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Student and staff safety is our top priority.

No habrá aprendizaje en persona en nuestras escuelas el martes. But Lauryn Macedone saw another dream come true not too long ago, when she was a contestant on the wildly popular show “The Voice,” selected to be a part of Alicia Keys’ team.

On this episode of the Supercast, we meet this superstar teacher and musician who has a heart of gold and a voice that turned heads around the nation, and turned the chairs of three judges on “The Voice.”

Mountain Shadows Elementary School Students Take Stage Performing in Colorful Musical

Students performing on stageIt was a musical performance made possible by so many talented people and their hard work paid off. Students at Mountain Shadows Elementary School took the stage in colorful costumes and props, surrounded by a beautiful set for a performance of “Moana Jr.” The play is a musical production that follows the journey of a young girl who sets out to save her island and her people, discovering her true identity and heritage along the way.

Thanks to everyone involved in the production and congratulations to all of the talented students who had a role in the play, on stage or working behind the scenes.

On this episode of the Supercast, we find out how schools are celebrating, and we sit down with a strong woman in our school community making history in her own right. Meet Dawn Ramsey, President of the Jordan Education Foundation and the first female mayor of South Jordan City.

But first, we stop by West Jordan Middle School where Martha Hughes Cannon, the first female State Senator in the United States, is celebrated on morning announcements.

All Smiles and Fun at West Jordan High Inclusive Dance Party

It was an amazing night to remember for some students and staff at West Jordan High School. Student Body Officers wanted everyone to have the prom experience this year, so they organized a dance party which included invites for all students with special needs at the school. The SBO’s escorted their classmates to the dance by arranging to pick them up on a party bus. Then, they were treated to a delicious dinner before the dance party began. The night included fun and festive outfits, pictures, lots of smiles, dancing and just pure joy.

Thanks to everyone at West Jordan High for making the Inclusive Dance Party possible and creating high school memories to last a lifetime.
