All schools will be on Winter Recess from Wednesday, December 22 through Tuesday, January 2. District Offices will close at 3 p.m. on December 23 and reopen on January 3.

From an international soccer field to a United States National Park, Mountain Creek Middle School staff created custom gingerbread scenes of splendor with frosting and candy accenting their creations. The competition is a part of a school-wide team-building exercise with the faculty breaking into nine groups. Designs range from “Merry Christmas Charlie Brown” scenes to traditional gingerbread house designs. Students can see the staff’s work in the school’s display cases until Winter Break.

Great work, Mountain Creek Middle School staff, for building such creative and exciting gingerbread houses and showing students what teamwork can accomplish!

It was a huge surprise for a very deserving first-grade teacher at Mountain Point Elementary School. The Utah Jazz showed up during a school assembly, along with the Jazz Bear, to honor Charity Horne as a Utah Jazz MVE, “Most Valuable Educator.” The award is given during the regular basketball season and recognizes teachers who are an inspiration.

Mountain Point Principal Elizabeth Felt says Ms. Horne is the kind of teacher who makes learning vivid, hands-on, and fun, she is a cheerleader to everyone around her. A member of the community nominated Ms. Horne for the award. Her principal also says Ms. Horne gives 100 percent in everything she does at school, elevating everyone around her. She does everything with joy.
