Joel P. Jensen Teacher Honored at Utah Jazz Game as “Most Valuable Educator”

She is described as a teacher who puts in endless hours to make lessons and learning engaging for her students. Because of her hard work, passion, and inspiring students to succeed, Joel P. Jensen teacher Mandy Truscott has been named the latest “Most Valuable Educator” and was honored during Monday night’s NBA game between the Utah Jazz and Charlotte Hornets.

Mrs. Truscott was surprised by the honor and received a personalized Utah Jazz jersey and a $1,000 classroom grant from Instructure, the parent company of Canvas.

The nomination said Mrs. Truscott puts in countless hours to help her students improve their reading skills. She teaches remedial reading classes and each year her students average about three years’ worth of growth in their test scores.

Mrs. Truscott was not only a special guest at Monday night’s NBA game, she will attend an awards dinner with the Jazz and Instructure at the end of the season.

Congratulations, Mrs. Truscott! Keep up the great work, you make the District and your students proud.
