Mountain Shadows Culture Fair Is a Colorful Experience for Students and Families

They were able to travel to Belize and beyond as students, families, teachers and staff enjoyed a quick trip around the world at the Mountain Shadows Elementary School Culture Fair. It was a night dedicated to celebrating different cultures and traditions with dancing, songs and creative costumes. Students and their families created and presented displays, which included items from their individual cultures.

Thank you to Mountain Shadows for allowing everyone to participate in such a wonderful celebration of culture and community.

Students Devote Week to Importance of Spreading Kindness at South Jordan Middle School

Students lifting school mascotIt was a week that focused on the importance of kindness in and outside of school at South Jordan Middle and a presentation by motivational speaker Josh Downs was one of the highlights. Mr. Downs is a performance coach and mentor who focuses on personal growth and development.

He brought his program to South Jordan Middle stressing the importance of unity, bringing students together with the school community. The program called LYFT also focuses on finding opportunities to lift fellow students and spread kindness in and outside of school.

Students volunteered to demonstrate lifting each other by actually lifting the school mascot up in the air, with each student using just one finger. The Snow Leopard loved it and so did students.

School administrators want students to know, “We are Stronger Together, Stronger Than Ever.”

JSD Digital Learning Team Changing Lives with Free Course in Computer Literacy and Free Computers

Picture of Digital Literacy ClassIt has been a labor of love for Jordan School District’s Digital Learning Team. Thanks to a federal ARPA Digital Inclusion Grant, the team was able to offer a free month-long computer literacy class to 100 parents and community members who have had little or no access to technology. After completing the course, each participant received a free computer.

Parents say the opportunity to receive a free computer and participate in free classes on how to use technology has changed their lives in ways they never imagined. They say it has made a huge difference in everything from helping their students with homework, to finding a job and connecting with their communities.

Thanks to our Digital Learning Team for making a difference in so many lives!
