Farm-to-table: “Apple Crunch Day” Celebrates the Benefits of Locally Grown Produce

Apples growing on trees Jordan School District has partnered with Pyne Farms in Orem to purchase 400 cases of apples to celebrate this year’s “Apple Crunch Day” on October 19th. The event is an excellent opportunity for the District to increase our students’ exposure to locally-grown produce in Utah and encourage healthy eating habits.

As part of the promotion, Jordan School District Nutrition Services Department will provide students with activity pages, nutrition facts, and a video on the farm-to-table experience of the apples they will be enjoying.

Thank you to the wonderful Nutrition Services staff for making this day possible and helping educate students on the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables.

Native American Students Come Together for Special Trip to Natural History Museum

They were captivated by exhibits and experiencing different cultures together. Native American students from 15 Jordan School District schools, in the 5th and 6th grades, were treated to a field trip to the Utah Natural History Museum. The trip was sponsored by the Native American Program, allowing the students to explore their own culture and other cultures with visual and hands-on exhibits. For some, it was the first time experiencing the Natural History Museum. It was a field trip full of engaging education, understanding, and fostering of new friendships.

Thanks to everyone involved for making this field trip a wonderful and unique experience for students.

It was a great time for families and their children who were excited to sport their Halloween costumes a little early and then pose for priceless pictures.

Thanks to the kind and caring Jordan Child Development Center staff for working so hard to provide a night of fun for the whole family.
