He believes that counselors can make a significant difference in the lives of students and can help them overcome challenges, be authentic, and achieve success in their goals. Because of the difference he makes in the lives of students every day, West Jordan High’s Brandt Haberman is being honored as a Wasatch Front School Counselor Fair “Counselor of the Year.”

Brandt was selected as a “Counselor of the Year,” in part, for his focus on suicide prevention and for recognizing the critical need for intervention and support for students struggling with mental health issues. In just a few short years, he has helped bolster suicide prevention programs and resources in Jordan School District, making a positive impact on the lives of students.

Mr. Haberman is well-respected by his colleagues and students alike. He is known for his kind and compassionate approach to counseling and for his unwavering commitment to student success.

Congratulations to this incredible school counselor! Thank you for all of your hard work supporting students.

It was an event that brought students together from middle schools throughout Jordan School District and it came together thanks to some really talented teachers. The first ever Jordan School District Middle School French Language Fair was recently held at the Auxiliary Services Building auditorium. It was an opportunity for students studying French to gather, mingle, and get to know one another. There were cultural and academic activities, which teachers hope may motivate and inspire students to continue in the French language program.

Students enjoyed face painting, games, food, even a flash mob dance during the event.

Thanks to our amazing teachers for their creativity and bringing bright students together to learn, have some fun, and share their love of the French language.

It was a competitive couple of days at the South Valley School as students hit the court in a fun and lively March Madness Basketball Tournament. In this tournament however, everyone walked away a winner with a medal.

The school’s Annual March Madness Basketball Tournament involved 8 teams competing for bragging rights. The school’s cheerleaders performed between games and cheered players on from the sidelines.  Max Brown, a student in class 4, did an amazing job calling all the plays. Teacher Stuart Roberts organized and refereed the tournament.

A team named “The Beatles” walked away with the top prize in South Valley’s March Madness. But everyone was a winner taking home a March Madness medal.

Congratulations to everyone who participated in the tournament! Way to go South Valley.

It was a week to recognize all of our dedicated school breakfast and lunch employees who are up before dawn to make sure students get a delicious and nutritious meal before the start of the school day and then again for lunch.

Studies show children who eat breakfast have better concentration, are more alert and tend to do better in reading and math. Breakfast equals brain power.

National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success.

He wants students to work hard and to reach their Walk to Read reading goals, so Principal Ross Menlove made them a promise which he recently kept. Mr. Menlove said if students earned enough points with high levels of participation in Walk to Read, he would kiss a goat. Rocky Peak is after all, proud to be the Greatest of all Time (the GOATS).

Because students met their participation goals, Mr. Menlove headed to Gilette Family Farms and he did indeed kiss a goat named Sophie.
