Monte Vista Elementary Selected as “ResilientYOU” Elementary School of the Year

Join us in congratulating Monte Vista Elementary school for excellence in education and resilience! The school is being honored as Utah’s 2024 ResilientYOU Elementary School of the Year. State Representative Susan Pulsipher with the state-wide ResilientYOU program presented Monte Vista with the award.

ResilientYOU is a prestigious honor presented annually to organizations and individuals based on their exemplary efforts in building student resilience in their schools, homes and communities.

Monte Vista was nominated, in part, for taking an unprecedented journey this year. The school  established two special education self-contained support classes from the ground up led by teachers Jessica Perkins and Mailet Ortega, along with their staff members. The classes were seamlessly integrated into the existing curriculum, enriching the school’s comprehensive offerings in art, music, and physical education.

Monte Vista also successfully launched two full-day kindergarten classes and continues to fostering a culture of community and resilience within the school and beyond.

Award recipients will be honored on May 9th at an event called “Utah Prevention Day with the Salt Lake Bees” at Smith’s Ballpark in front of 10,000 students and teachers. They will also receive an honorary plaque.

Congratulations Monte Vista Elementary School and staff! Keep up the great work being a model for resilience.

Jordan School District Students Come Together for Unified Sports Bocce Ball Tournament

They were having a blast playing bocce ball at Oquirrh Hills Middle School last week. That’s because students from middle schools throughout Jordan School District came together for a Unified Sports Bocce Ball Tournament. They lit an Olympic-style torch to begin the games and students of all abilities played side by side on teams. Everyone walked away with new friends, great memories, and awards.

Thanks to everyone involved in organizing the event and to the volunteers who stepped in to referee the games and make everything run smoothly.

Congratulations to all of the bocce ball tournament players and teams!

It is Time to Celebrate National School Principals’ Day

Today is National School Principals’ Day! On this day we want to thank our amazing, passionate, and hard-working school principals for all they do, looking after students and guiding their academic success. Our principals set the tone for the entire school and see to the needs of staff as well.

The staff at Foothills Elementary School decided to get Principal Abe Yospe a little something to celebrate. They surprised him with a snazzy new suit! We think it matches Mr. Yospe’s personality perfectly.

Happy National School Principals’ Day. Don’t forget to thank your favorite principal today.
