Honoring Jordan Education Foundation’s “Outstanding Educators of the Year”

It was one surprise after another as members of the Jordan Education Foundation honored deserving teachers throughout Jordan School District with the “Outstanding Educator of the Year” award. Every single teacher recognized has a commitment and dedication to students and education that is making a difference in young lives every day. We are so proud of the work carried out in our classrooms and thankful to our amazing educators.

Supercast Episode 131: Unifying Students through Unified Sports in Jordan School District

Students in the Unified Sports ProgramIt is a fun and exciting program that is growing throughout Jordan School District. We’re talking about Unified Sports, a program that joins people with and without disabilities on the same team, whether it is basketball, soccer, golf or even Esports.

On this episode of the Supercast, we explore how training and playing together creates a path to lasting friendship and understanding among students with special needs and their peers. Unified Sports really is helping to break down stereotypes, empowering students on and off the playing field.


JATC South Students Place in State Competition

Copper Hills High Principal Recognized as “Outstanding Principal of the Year”

It was an emotional surprise for Copper Hills High Principal Bryan Veazie. Family, friends, students, teachers and staff were on hand as members of the Jordan Education Foundation showed up to let Mr. Veazie know he is this year’s JEF “Outstanding Principal of the Year.”

Principal Veazie was recognized for his ability to nurture positive and meaningful relationships and for being a fearless leader at Copper Hills High School. Colleagues say Mr. Veazie has a way of holding people accountable but doing it in a kind and caring way. They describe him as a humble man and great example, someone who makes you want to be better.

Congratulations, Mr. Veazie, on a well-deserved award and recognition!

Brand New Literacy Launch
We know when students learn to read in the younger grades, they can read to learn in the upper grades.

With that in mind, we launched a brand new literacy curriculum this year. All teachers are working harder than ever to provide a solid reading foundation so students are fluent in reading by the end of third grade.


2016 Bond Update – All Projects Completed
All six schools in the 2016 Bond Plan opened on time or ahead of schedule. They were under budget enough to help pay for a seventh new school, Antelope Canyon Elementary in West Jordan.


New Schools Funded by School District Capital Reserves
The Board of Education authorized the use of District capital reserves for the construction of three new schools to address overcrowding in high growth areas.


Increased Teacher Pay
The Board of Education approved increased base pay, a more flexible leave policy, and additional parent leave benefits for teachers.

Jordan Virtual Learning Academy
The Board of Education authorized the District to open the first of its kind K-12 Jordan Virtual Learning Academy. The online schools put
students on a path to personalized learning with weekly in-person options. The schools are tuition free and open to any K-12 student in Utah. Find out more at virtual.jordandistrict.org.


Majestic Elementary Arts Academy
The Board of Education authorized Majestic Elementary Arts Academy in West Jordan to offer all K-6 students a new choice in education
beginning in the 2021-22 school year. The school focuses on Instrumental Music and Visual Arts as part of students’ daily classroom instruction. Find out more at majestic.jordandistrict.org.


Partnership with Special Olympics Utah to Offer Unified Sports in Schools
The Unified Sports program brings students with and without special needs together on the playing field, using sports as a catalyst for social inclusion.
