Simba, Rafiki, Nala, Timon, Pumbaa, and the entire cast of characters from Pride Rock sang and danced at Antelope Canyon Elementary during performances of The Lion King Kids. “Hakuna Matta” means  “No Worries” as the play was capably put on by the PTA with help from Antelope Canyon faculty.

Kudos to Naomi Bawden, the Beverly Taylor Sorenson (BTS) Arts Music Specialist, and to all who helped the students “Be Prepared.” A special thanks to all who helped with costumes and sets to turn the Antelope Canyon gym into the African Savannah.

The Wolves of Westvale Elementary School were on the prowl in their neighborhood at the school’s annual Fun Run. Students took to the starting line under an inflatable arch at the school entrance and then ran through the surrounding neighborhood and past the nearby Mountain View Golf Course on the three-quarter-mile run.

Thank you to all the volunteers, including the PTA, for helping guide the runners through the course and handing out ribbons, water, and popsicles at the finish line. A special thank you to the West Jordan Police Department for patrolling the streets to make sure everyone stayed safe during their run.

The Jordan Native American Program hosted its annual Native American Community Night. The event was to continue the tradition of meeting as a community and celebrating heritage, culture, and student achievements.

The night included dinner, vendors, crafts, photo opportunities, student recognition, a 2025 Senior Class celebration and performances by Echoing Spirit Dancers. The Keynote speaker was Dr. Darren Parry, former Chairman of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation and author of “The Bear River Massacre, A Shoshone History.”
