Riverton High School Students Make Life-Saving Impact Through Blood Drive

HOSA students from Riverton High School recently hosted and ran a successful blood drive, with all donations going to ARUP Blood Services. The drive gives students real-world experience in the healthcare career field and provides 105 units of life-saving blood. Students’ hard work will significantly impact patients lives during a nationwide blood shortage.

So far this school year, student-run blood drives across Jordan School District have collected 705 units of blood that have been turned into 2100 blood products, which helped hundreds of patients at Huntsman Cancer Institute and University of Utah Hospitals.

Thank you to students and staff who have helped give life-saving blood to those in our communities who need it most.

Employees, Students and Parents Participate in Health & Wellness Day Activities

They enjoyed everything from wellness yoga, meditation, art, cooking, meal planning, and mindfulness classes, even a huge Health Fair. On Friday, Jordan School District employees were offered a variety of ways to focus on their personal health and wellness now and in the future. Friday, February 9, was the District’s third annual Health & Wellness Day for employees, students, and families.

Resources were made available throughout the day to help everyone focus on their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Virtual classes were offered, along with in-person activities designed to help staff connect with other employees and to support physical health and wellness.

The District also provided families with information, activities, and curriculum for students of all ages to help them focus on their own health and wellness. The resources were made available so parents could make choices about what would be most helpful and appropriate for members of their individual families.

A big thank you to all of our community partners who stepped up and supported the Health & Wellness Day by offering things like free use of gyms, a spa, jazzercise, meal storage with Beehive meals, and more.

We Say “Thank You School Counselors” For All You Do Every Single Day!

Thank you school counselors posterIn honor of “National School Counseling Week,” we want to send a sincere message of thanks to the hard-working school counselors throughout Jordan School District. They go above and beyond every single day and work incredibly hard supporting students in so many different ways.

We encourage you to join us in saying thank you to the school counselors in your lives, working at your schools. School counselors are here to help students by preparing them for future careers, academic advising, help with social/emotional development, and ensuring today’s students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow.

Thank you to all of our school counselors who are making a difference in the lives of Jordan School District students.

Supercast Episode 231: Aged to Perfection, First Graders Celebrate 100 Days into School Year

Superintendent with some "old" studentsRecently many first-grade classrooms in Jordan School District looked a little more like lively senior centers because students and staff were celebrating the first 100 days of the school year by dressing up as if they were 100 years old.

On this episode of the Supercast, we talk to some very impressive silver-haired students at Silver Crest Elementary School about their 100th day costumes. Find out what they say about the aging process and when someone is considered “old.”

We’re going to start however, with some teachers who also look “aged to perfection” on the 100th day.
