Math Students Raise Money for Charity While Studying Philanthropy

Bingham High Students Shopping Bingham High School students in Mr. Jensen’s math class raised over $22,000 for several “Angel Trees” across Jordan School District. The annual fundraising event is a part of the study of philanthropy in the Math of Personal Finance Class. At the beginning of the year, Mr. Jensen has students set aside money for charity as part of the lesson. The fundraising is not tied to students’ grades and is optional, but the task is meant to help students understand the joys of giving. During the holidays, students then used the money to buy presents and food for 37 families. Math students at Bingham have done this holiday drive for 12 years now.

Thank you, Mr. Jensen and Bingham High math students, for creating a unique learning opportunity that benefits the community.
