Jordan School District Students “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” Participating in Great Utah ShakeOut

An eerie rumbling sound was heard throughout JSD school buildings and offices, then students teachers, and staff quickly responded by taking shelter underneath desks, holding onto the legs of their desks or tables, doing all they could to protect themselves from falling debris.

On Thursday morning, students and employees did “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” participating in the Great Utah ShakeOut. It is a drill taken very seriously in our schools and buildings, so that if or when an earthquake actually occurs, students, teachers, staff, and parents will be as prepared as possible.

At Heartland Elementary School, time spent practicing for the Great Utah ShakeOut paid off and everyone completed the drill successfully with the knowledge that they are indeed better prepared if they have to respond to a real earthquake.

Thank you to everyone for making safety a priority.
