Community Comes Together to Provide Hundreds of Brand-New Beds, Bedding and Pillows for Struggling Students and Families Forced to Go Without

Volunteers stand in front of a Bed'r Homes for Kids sign It is a community effort like no other bringing hundreds of brand-new beds to students and families going without this winter season. The project, supported by local businesses and sponsored by the Jordan Education Foundation is called “BED’R HOMES FOR KIDS.” The goal is to provide 200 new twin beds, bedding and pillows for deserving students and families who find themselves struggling, often with homelessness.

Jordan Education Foundation Executive Director Mike Haynes, says “When kids have the essentials of life at home, they are better prepared to be successful students.” Getting beds to students who may have never had one, will give them a chance at a good night’s sleep and help them to better concentrate in class at school.

Thank you to everyone involved in this project to improve the lives of local students and families in our area.

Majestic Elementary Arts Academy Students Perform in Wonderful Winter Gala

Majestic Elementary Students performing on stageIt was a magical night for students, teachers and more than 400 guests who gathered for the school’s first ever “Winter Gala.” Over the past three months teacher specialists in visual and musical arts prepared students to take the stage and share their talents.

The school’s older students played instruments as part of a band performance, while the younger students sang musical numbers. Each student showcased their integrated art projects in the hallways.

It was inspiring to see supportive parents and families celebrate their students’ hard work. Even Superintendent Dr. Anthony Godfrey and Board of Education member Jen Atwood stopped by to enjoy the Winter Gala.

Teachers at the school say having the arts integrated into learning every day is having a positive impact on student’s lives and in the school culture.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this magical night at Majestic Arts Academy!

Elk Meadows Students Collect Cereal for Those in Need and Receive Fun Reward

Picture of students and cereal boxesThey set out to help other students in need and went above and beyond. Students at Elk Meadows Elementary School were hoping to collect a cereal box for from each student in the school to donate to the Utah Food Bank. The goal was to collect at least 700 boxes. Students surpassed that goal in a big way collecting more than 1,000 boxes of cereal.

Their reward for bringing a box from each student was to perform a huge school-wide domino event with all of the boxes. They lined the boxes of cereal around the entire inside of the school. Then, with the student body and staff watching, they knocked down the first box of cereal which created a domino effect of falling boxes from one end of the school, up and down hallways and back to the main office. The domino cereal game was a huge success along with the effort on the part of students to help others in need.

Way to go, Elk Meadows Elementary School!!!
