A Safety Reminder for National School Bus Safety Week

This is National School Bus Safety Week, a week when we can all join forces to address the importance of school bus safety. The theme this year is “1 Bus + 1 Driver = a BIG Impact on Education.”

Here are a few reminders about safety around the school bus from our Jordan School District school bus drivers.

October 2022 Community Job Fair FlyerJordan School District School Counseling has partnered with Granite School District, Salt Lake Community College, and the Utah Department of Workforce Services to hold the free ChamberWest Job Fair. The Job Fair will be held on Thursday, October 20, from 2 – 6 p.m. at Taylorsville High School, 5225 Redwood Rd, Taylorsville. District students can get more information by contacting their school’s Counseling Center.

Community Comes Together for Oak Leaf Elementary School Dedication

Principal and students greeting guests at dedicationMemories are being made at the brand new Oak Leaf Elementary School in Herriman and last night the community came together to celebrate. An official school dedication ceremony was held at the school. Student body leaders greeted guests as they arrived and Principal Ronna Hoffman welcomed everyone thanking VCBO Architects, Hughes Construction, District staff, the Board of Education, parents, students and the community for their role in making the new school a reality.

There were also remarks by Jordan Board of Education President Tracy Miller, Richard Dansie, Herriman City Mayor, Lorin Palmer, and Superintendent Anthony Godfrey.

The Student Council led a flag ceremony followed by a lively performance of the new school song.

Board member Darrell Robinson conducted the official dedication of Oak Leaf Elementary School. Thank you to everyone who participated in this special event.

Supercast Episode 161: A Bingham High Student and Her National Storytelling Success

Superintendent with Claire BurnhamClaire Burnham has a pretty amazing story to tell, one Claire and her family won’t soon forget.

On this episode of the Supercast, meet the Bingham High School sophomore who is one of only 10 students in the nation selected to be a National Youth Storyteller at the Timpanogos Storytelling Festival. To make her story even more incredible, Claire was the opening act for professional storytellers, including the King of Storytelling, Master Storyteller Donald Davis.


Family Fun at the Jordan Child Development Center’s Fall Festival

It was a night filled with lots of fun and making family memories together with teachers and staff. The Jordan Child Development Center organized an awesome Fall Festival which included free Halloween activities, some surprises for the little ones and spooktacular prizes. It was a lot of fun for families and their children who were excited to sport their Halloween costumes a little early and then pose for priceless pictures.

Thanks to the kind and caring Jordan Child Development Center staff for working so hard to provide a night of fun for the whole family.
