Congratulations to Students Involved in National Letter of Intent Day

Mountain Ridge High School student-athletes sign letters of intent to their future collegesIt was a day to remember for some students at Mountain Ridge High School as they participated in the initial National Letter of Intent Day. This is the period of time in which student athletes who have verbal offers from college coaches, make their athletic scholarships official by signing their National Letter of Intent. The first day of the signing period is Signing Day, and it’s marked by celebrations, reveals, and often, some college gear.

Thank You to All Veterans!

Jordan School District students, teachers and staff extend our sincere thanks to all of our veterans on this Veterans Day. We are proud of your service and sacrifice making the many freedoms we enjoy every single day possible. We honor you today and every day.

From the playing of bagpipes, sunrise salutes and choir performances, students in many of our schools took time to honor those who serve and have served, both past and present.

Join us in showing our thanks and appreciation. We are forever grateful.

Celebrating Our Amazing School Psychologists!

This week is National School Psychology Week (NSPW), a week set aside to highlight the important work school psychologists do to help all students thrive.

Our school psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams. They support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. School psychologists help children and youth succeed academically, socially and behaviorally, as well as helping to create a positive school environment.

Join Superintendent Godfrey and Jordan School District as we say thank you to our valued school psychologists for the important work they do and the impact they have on young lives each and every day.

Riverton High Student to Make History Competing in First Ever Utah Special Olympics DanceSport Event

Riverton High School student Travis Willis is about to make history along with some good friends who have been dancing with him for about four years now. Travis and his dance team will compete in the first ever DanceSport event for Utah Special Olympics. Travis and his team train at Darby’s Dancers in South Jordan.

Former “Dancing with the Stars Pro,” and professional dancer, Louis Van Amstel is the Utah Special Olympics Dance Ambassador and he has worked very hard to make Dance an official Utah Special Olympics sport. Van Amstel says Dance will expand opportunities for athletes in Special Olympics and help everyone see the true abilities and talents of those participating in DanceSport competitions.

You can see Travis compete against teams from around the state and country on Saturday November, 6 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Masonic Temple in downtown Salt Lake City.

Travis Willis is also a member of the Color Guard at Riverton High School. Best of luck this weekend, Travis. We are very proud of your accomplishments!
